The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council prepares fishery plans to manage the U.S. fishery resources in the federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. These waters are also known as the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The Gulf Council is one of eight regional Fishery Management Councils established by the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act.
